Users mostly issued complaints about losing trust of a company that was going to eventually remove access to something customers thought they only had to pay for once. Over the next few days, Notability and its owner company Ginger Labs received significant press attention and negative social media reactions on websites such as Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit. There was immediate backlash by current users who were surprised by the unexpected loss of a good that they paid for. However, unlocking all of its features would cost $14.99/year, and previous customers would have access to the same features they initially paid for a duration of only 1 year.
